81 five ⭐ Google reviews. Clients have invest over $229 million in property. Passionate about helping busy professionals reach their retirement goals.
Hi, I'm Derry, senior financial adviser at Opes Partners. So far I've helped my clients acquire over 300 investment properties worth nearly a quarter of a billion dollars ($229 million). Along the way they've left me 81 five-star Google reviews. I take the trust of my clients very seriously.
I'm a proud husband and father of three girls, and an investor myself with properties across Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown. So I know what it takes while juggling work and family. I'll tell you what's realistic and I won't pretend it's easy.
Who I work with
Most of my clients are couples and professionals in their 40s and 50s. They've built solid careers and a strong household income. They have real equity sitting in the family home and a nagging feeling they should be doing more with it. But... between work, kids and life, they don't have the time, and they'd rather lean on professionals to get it right the first time.
You don't need to save another deposit. It's most likely already sitting in your home. What you need is a plan for how to use it wisely, and a clear strategy to reach your goals.
Why now matters
At 45 or 50, you typically have one good 15–20 year runway left before retirement. That's genuinely enough time for property to make a real difference but it's not enough time to keep putting the decision off.
And right now, the market is working in your favour. Prices are soft, smart investors are taking action. Markets like this don't announce when they're ending, by the time everyone agrees it was a good time to buy, it usually isn't any more.
As Warren Buffett puts it, "be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful"
How I work
I love numbers and details, so my clients' plans are built on data, not vibes. But the best plan isn't the most aggressive one; it's the one you can actually stick to while still enjoying your weekends and holidays along the way.
Some of my favourite Google reviews are from people I advised not to buy, because the numbers showed they were already on track. If property isn't the right move for you, I'll tell you that too.
What to expect from your first session
In your free planning session, we'll work out three things:
- Where you are now financially

We'll discuss what your ideal lifestyle will cost, and the gap between where you're heading and where you want to be.
No pressure, no jargon, no obligation. Just straight answers on exactly where you stand.
It would be a privilege to help you put what you've already built to work.
